Thankyou people--& good to know i'm still useful for something in old age haha. "But that's 'only if my theories work".
Yet to be proven.
Hope one of us has it sussed.
Damn frustrating to rebuild it & have problem straight off.
Something about 'that' first start up after it was a pile of parts on the bench.

There are 2 syncs on the carbs Clegg way is for your idle sync but you need to also check the slides at half throttle to see if both are the same height if one is lower than the other it want run correct both cylinders should run the same RPM’s

I have had probably a half dozen each, RD350, Rd400 and a DS7. Never had this issue before. They're synched.

I don't mean to derail this thread but I will certainly post the fix when figured out.

Hey Clegg on my sons right side cylinder on his RD200 had an intermittent problem also my inductive timing light showed no problem but still had a miss at different Rpm’s so I put a new spark plug cap on and it fixed the problem Hope this helps

I'll change it out and see what happens. I am thinking it has to be ignition. Hopefully the coils or a cap will do it. The Yamahas are usually so easy to get going. Thank you.

It's just crazy. It will be smoking from both sides and then the left cuts out. It will pull the wheel when it's on.

I am hoping that the OP has found his issue, or maybe this will help him also. These bikes are cool as hell. The character of the 2 strokes are unparalleled. I love them.

Absolutely cool as hell I let my son ride my Rd350 and his friend has a R1 but most people talk to him when filling the bike up with gas not his friends R1. Nothing beats the sound of a 2 Stroke
