Have a 73 175 CT 3 and try to restore. Has 325 original miles, but been sitting for 50 years. Replaced tires, fuel valve, brake shoes, fork seals, and chain. Finally got tank clean. Lights and signal lames on and cables lubed and free. Have a new battery. Working on carb now. Has original headlight, cracked, and not sure if it works yet.

Am located in Texas panhandle. Had a 71 175 in high school, so this a nostalgic project.

Got carb clean and she runs good. Also got a new battery charged and installed. Headlamp has both beams burning. Sealed the cracked lens with some E6000. Turn lamps all burn but don't flash. Got a rear tail/stop bulb incoming. My neurtral indicator and turn indicator lights burn. High beam indicator does not. Left switch gear has switch broken off. Ordered used one (entire left swithch gear) at a stupidly high price. Should be here soon. Hope it all is functional.

I am sure I will need advice and techinal advice as I go. (read: stupid questions)

My mistake but was reading "Lights Burn" as "Burning Out"--it's just me!!. So they go & glow but indicators don't flash, just glow. Headlight operates without blowing at revs?. Bulb wattage has to match the unit but can go a little higher but not lower--well sometimes you can depending. Like if 8 watt is std then 10 watt will flash faster, Also is it charging back into the battery/motor running, just to be sure its soaking up a charge otherwise headlight is likely to 'blow/burn out' as battery ballances the system. Sorry i'm probably wondering off track.

That's awesome! I also had a 1971 CT-1 in high school, and rode it into the ground. My Dad bought two of them in 1971, and the one he rode for a while sat idle  with only ~350 miles on it, rusting. A year ago I began working on it, and long story short got it running, and love riding it around town!

Got the new battery in and new tail bulb, it fired up and everything works. When the new/used switch gear here and installed, l will go for state inspection. Plan to apply for Texas “Classic” tags so as no hassle from the LEO’s.

Ok, now I need some information/help.

The bike has been sitting for 45-48 years. I have it running fine. Waiting on seat recover, but decided to take it out for a short ride (riding trials style). Ran great, shifts well, brakes good...biike has a little over 300 orig miles....now the problem:

Taking off cold, I was easy on the throttle, short shifting until it warmed up. Then, started applying more throttle, and started to get some clutch slippage from about 2500 rpm and up. Let off and it pulled fine. Rode about a mile.  My thoughts are maybe the clutch plated dried out after so much time sitting unused. I ran it on a stand some this evening; disengaging and engaging the clutch to try to see if it "oils up". Is this sound theory or should I just get a new clutch?

thanks,
