78 IT400 Engine service manual was created by Blazer

 Hello, I need to rebuild the crank on my IT400 which means splitting the cases. I need a service manual for this year. I looked in the Tech section and dont see one. Is it the same as a YZ of similar year? I have never done this so any help suggestions , Thanks!

Can anyone confirm which manual I need? Do I need a 77 DT400 manual for a lower end rebuild?

You can compare the pictures of your engine to the 77 DT250/400 manual in the Tech Library.

Yamaha generally did not make IT or YZ Service Manuals in those years... Owner's manual went into more detail about maintenance and tuning of clutch/carb/shock/etc. than a normal owner's manual. DT manual was what you used for major teardown of engine. (DT models in that era were just a "detuned" version of the YZ/IT race bikes)
