I have my eye on a 1982 IT 465 that needs a fair bit of TLC to say the least!! One of my main concerns is the need to rebuild the rear monoshock. After much searching on the internet I’m not convinced I will be able to find anyone that can rebuild the rear shock and if I could buy a new Ohlin shock the cost would make the project way to expensive… I’m torn! Maybe I’ll walk away from the deal and try to find a bike that has more readily available parts.

Thanks, I have seen that name on other websites regarding the IT shocks but the response that some on those sites was that Sage recommended just buying a new shock from Ohlin. But that Ohlin may not even make them anymore and if they did the price of close to $1000 US ( or $1300 Cdn) would be to high for me to consider … but I should give Sage a call to confirm what I have heard.

Yes it is rebuildable. There are new aftermarket seal heads available for them (All Balls, Race tech etc)

If you get in a bind with parts you can check out the technical touch USA catalog. They import genuine KYB parts and their catalog is extensive for things like seals, bushings, bump stops and all of the various internal components. They list physical dimensions for their stuff so regardless of intended application you can measure up what you have and see if they have something that fits. There's a good chance they have something that will work in that shock.
