How to remove the passenger footpegs 1975 400?? was created by TennesseeVol51

Both passenger footpegs on my dt400 are loose and flop all around and spinning all way around.

I do not like buddy pegs anyway is there any thing I’m missing, the only way I can see to remove them is to cut them off??

the tab on the swingarm is permanently riveted to the peg I’ve never seen this before.

why would Yamaha design the pegs not to be removed serviced or replaced?

here is a picture

I have a feeling you're looking at someone's modification?

I certainly haven't seen everything and I don't remember everything I have seen.  I can say I don't remember ever seeing a Yamaha of this era with rear pegs that didn't attach to a threaded bung in the swingarm.  And I've owned and worked on a lot of them.

looks like you could tack weld that bolt frame to the peg frame to give you leverage and maybe it will unwind off the swingarm.
