DT175 piston & rings search was created by AT3CT31973a

Hi there

I have a Yamaha DT175A 1974 twin shock model and I was wondering if anyone can answer me this question.
It has a Dykes piston as standard, this type has a stepped down piston ring crown that uses a 'L' shaped top ring.

Piston 2nd over 443-11610-20

Can I use a later type of piston that does not have the stepped  down top ring ?
Thinking of the later 1977 onwards mono shock version.

Obviously the piston pin to crown height needs to be identical & other measurements.

The Dykes type piston & rings are  hard to find nowadays.

Any help much appreciated

Thanks
