Mikuni VM24ss twisted slightly was created by DTTimClark100860

Hi again. ……I’ve now fitted my carb back on my DT175B bike and as before I removed it it’s slightly twisting to one side due to the throttle cable inlet touching the exhaust !
Will this effect the carbs function ?
many thanks for any reply’s ( I can’t seem to answer back )

Anything touching the exhaust is not desirable.  In my line of work, the minimum air gap between exhaust and say a pipe or cable is usually 19mm.  Of course bikes being a little more compact may run things closer, but touching, no.  Something is not routed correctly.

Note... Some cables have a wire spiral around them to create a small air gap if they run close to hot parts.

If I remember correctly should have a 45 degree elbow fitting in top of carb to angle cable immediately as it exits top of carb and a relief dent in exhaust for cable clearance.

It's a tight fit but I don't remember ever having to angle carb?  Wondering if wrong throttle cable is installed or elbow is missing or something.

I'm assuming it's angled to the left. If it's not leaking out the overflow, breather at the base if the bowl when on the side  stand/kick stand then she'll  be ok. Mind you the breather might be central but anyway.
