450-33874, engine and frame.
Got it running last night. She's in great shape mechanically. Only needs a once over,
a seat cover and some fork seals.

Nice score.
Those buddy seats must unballance the bike with any significant weight on it, i've always wondered.

Must indeed. A regular sized chick on it might be enough to get this thing to wheelie.
This deal was a buy one get one free special. Seller mentioned that he had some kind of honda he would throw in with the DT. Turned out to be an 86 CR125. He said he was getting ready to take it for scrap, and that would have been a shame.

Got plenty of things to do with these over the winter.

New fork seals, new seat cover, lots of little odds and ends fixed and adjusted. I also took out the 250 motor and swapped it with the 15k mile 360 mill I just had apart for an inspection and freshening up. That 250 motor is basically new, I'll keep it under the workbench for now.
I thought it would also be an interesting experiment to test the thoroughly worked over 360 motor with all stock intake and exhaust components. Even a DT250 carb. It really surprises me how well it runs. Great torque and low-mid range power. It revs out reasonably well but nothing like it does with the cone pipe and big carb. The torque is there though, and that's all I ever wanted. Its a blast to ride, and I may just leave it like that. The stock pipe is quiet, the stock intake system is well protected and unobtrusive. None of this stuff manages to completely kill the power, so I can probably live with it.
I took it out to the rio puerco this morning. Always nice out there.

The next 30 feet are going to officially break out into the fourth digit on that odometer. So much for that.

Also, trying to light off the 360 motor with the DT250 points type ignition and no decompressor is a dangerous proposition. Would not recommend it, very painful and prone to kicking back like pissed off horse.
