1974 dt 100 wire harness was created by Lukester

Hi , my green turn signal wire that runs from front to back of bike has no continuity. I’m thinking of pulling a new wire .
‘my silly question is what gauge wire is the harness made from and is there a good source for factory type connectors .
thanks .

I believe the wire is 16 G , but I don't think you need to run a new one. Pull the tank and look for damage. Did you check from the bucket to the rear fender?

Cycle Terminal 4mm bullet connectors

If no continuity, likely cause is exhaust burn. If one wire is burned, others might be. When I restored my 74 360, the prev owner had no idea, the exhaust had melted some of the harness wires.

Example near rear of tank at crossover.

I did that , that’s the real head scratcher , the harness is in great shape , I removed fuel and oil tank and did not see any damage , also looked at neck area. There is power going into it at bucket end when switch is closed , but nothing at the other end. Wire alone has no continuity . I’ll have a look again in the morning.

Common cause of broken wires back in the day used to be where the wires flex at the steering head.
Might look ok but is/are broken within the casing.
I used to pull both sides of where they bend on whatever colour is faulty & usualy it just stretched it apart until the casing broke.
With the good ones you have no chance of doing that.
Good if you know what colour tou're looking for of course.
