DT250B oil pump check valve was created by Schu

I think my oil pump check valve is not doing its job anymore. I rode the bike yesterday for the first time in over a month and it smoked like crazy for the first 10 minutes of thrashing. It cleared up fine and ran great for a 35 mile jaunt on the back roads.

So I want to clamp off the oil line and see if it prevents a reoccurrence the next time I ride it. Is this the correct line to clamp? It’s the small hose to the carb from the pump. The larger hose from the tank to the pump is way too hard to pinch off with a clamp.

Could remove & clean the spring & ball at the pump outlet otherwise could fit an inline small fuel tap in the line from tank to pump but sure wouldn't want to forget to turn it on each ride day.

Thats the one.  Make a sign to place over your ignition switch area, telling you the oil line is clamped off.

Alternatively, unplug the line from the carb and place it in a catch container and you can eyeball the amount escaping past the check valve.
Important to note that if the check valve is stuck open, the pump cannot deliver the correct amount of oil.   It ensures one way oil flow and if stuck, the oil, or a portion of it may just oscillate back and forth in the line.

But it sounds like I best address the actual problem.
