Yamaha DT 250A was created by Philturn

Hi all, I have just bought a 1974 DT 250A, and I'm waiting for it to be delivered. I'm in Devon, UK. Any advice etc, would be much appreciated. Hopefully I'll be able to upload some pics when it arrives.

Congratulations on your new Enduro! You need to use a 3rd party hosting site like imgur to post pictures. There is a service bulletin for pre 1976 enduros for wiring a regulator into your headlight to prevent blown bulbs, the number is M5-084 and is in the tech library section which also has owners and service manuals

I've got your bike's big brother, 1974 DT360A, and lots of parts were shared.

+1 to the regulator (assuming the bike hasn't been converted to 12v), and I also recommend fitting new brake shoes front and rear. New ones are still available from Yamaha, CMSNL will show the current part numbers and Fowlers should have them. If you still use your local bike dealer, then they can get them cheaper for you than you can from Fowlers.

Your headlight may well be blown (hence the need for a regulator), but repros are likely available. Our bikes are a pain, as they had a 1 year only rim, with the retaining screw on the opposite side to standard.

Fire away with any questions and yes, use Imgur or such like to upload photos.
