Hi everyone,

I just acquired a completely original 1974 Yamaha SC500. It even has the original Dunlop tires made in Japan!!

My main question about this bike is would it be ok for the desert since it has a skid plate already attached??? I have never been a fan of riding in enclosed courses. I'm strictly desert to be honest.

I have a picture of my new purchase below. This is considered my 8th bike.

Yes. They pull way better in the sand.

Be sure to wax your chain!

If you can keep the front wheel down long enough — you might be okay???

i saw you mentioned my name but when I went back couldn’t find that post. On Friday’ of last week I put both of my bikes that had Green Stickers on non-op.

I was always a track guy and the desert was not my favorite. My all time Favorite Track at Indian Dunes was the Shadow Glen. On my 83’ CR 125 I could outrun the 83’ Honda 480 until the long straights.

Man i'd give my left b@#$ for one of those lol. they were a popular bike down here in NZ, especialy on fast flowing less bumpy tracks. She'll be good in the desert for sure.

Nice find Arin! Thats whole lotta Rosie you got there. I love my MX360 in the nasty, rocky, washes and hills. Put the biggest, knobbiest, tires you can find and go for it!
I put an FMF universal sillencer/spark arrestor on my machine and it helps the sound. Those beasts are loud.

500 would be better with the 360 5 speed transmission--just saying.
