1976 Dt 175 c clutch problems. was created by Fisher1208
I have a new to me 1976 175 c, bike is in overall good shape. The clutch was slipping at about 3–4 k rpm’s when purchased by me.
Here is where the issues start, so after purchasing the wrong parts I finally had the right steel & friction plates, as well as new pressure springs. I took everything apart and reassemble with the new parts( exactly as the old ones came out. After re assembling everything I have no clutch response, I adjusted the cable & swapped with a known hood part, still nothing.( the clutch slipped but was functional prior to replacement)
Looking for some insight on what could be wrong as I am not very knowledgeable with these older bikes and it seems there is something obvious I am missing. Is there an internal adjustment that I can try? Is there something I could have missed? Something else that could be worn and needs replacement? ( it seemed pretty straightforward when taking apart)
side note- I did re assemble with the original clutch parts and it works, installed the new ones again just to be sure, still not clutch. All parts were searched by vin at the dealer.
thanks to anyone who may be able to help me out here.

I take when you clutch "has no response" it acts like the clutch is solidly engaged all the time so the bike drives and pulling the lever won't make it slip or disconnect so you can stop in gear with the engine running?
Or does it slip all the time and you don't have any drive at all?
What is your engine VIN prefix and what disc part number did they sell you?
Did you happen to measure the thickness of the new friction discs?
1976 175c was the first year of the thinner discs if I remember correctly. Friction discs are the same as earlier bikes except for thickness... 1976 175c should be 3mm thick and earlier bikes were 4mm.
