1974 DT 125 carb overflowing was created by srsnow
Starting to run out of ideas to fix the carb over flowing. Have cleaned the carb and the tank out a few times. Replaced the needle valve set. Tried with and with out filter. The float level seems to be hard to find a consistent height on, the service manual I have calls out 20mm +/- 2.5mm and one from the tech library lists 21mm +/- 1mm. I have also seen people say it should be 25mm. 20 to 22mm fuel over flows as soon as you turn the pet cock on 25mm and the bike won't start. Was going to try 23mm tomorrow but wondering if anyone has any insight that maybe I am missing

I have to wonder if you're not taking your measurement from the wrong place on the carb body. If I remember correctly Mark T has suggested that if you get the floats parallel that should be close, of course Mark can correct me if I've misquoted him.

Yes, float arms parallel to float bowl gasket surface.

Could also be a leaky float, if you have the old brass float. Take it out and shake it, and see if you hear anything inside.

set it parallel to gasket surface, put bowl back on, then see if you can blow thru inlet with carb upside down to save yourself time of putting back on, taking back off

It isn't brass, it looks to be a type of black plastic for the float and brass for the frame, not sure if it was replaced at some point, the current replacements look to be completely white plastic

So doing this works but after the carb has sat for a few mins you can blow through it again tap the float bowel and the float will drop down and seal up. It seems the float is getting stuck with or with out gas in it when the bowel is installed. Everything seems to move freely and it is a new needle and seat, any ideas?

Are you sure it's the correct float?

If you still have troubles after replacing things I have a carb I'd sell you. Off same model, shes not the prettiest but ran good on my bike!
