Bushings for indicator mount for 75' DT175 was created by jeffjeffjeff

This is kind of a dumb question but can anyone tell me the part number for the pair of bushings that go on this instrument panel mount? It seems that partzilla does not show a part number or sell them. I don't even know what was originally used but I assume they are bushings with a metal insert. Or are there any alternatives that can be used?

I think that they are listed on the speedo and tacho page of the parts book - see CMSNL link below.

That is the same diagram as what is on Partzilla... But those are just the four small grommets that hold the tach and speedo to the instrument bracket with cotter pins, not the two larger ones that hold the instrument panel base bracket to the top triple clamp.

Maybe they originally came with the top triple clamp and aren't available?

Yes, I see what you mean.

CMSNL has a new bracket in stock and this shows as coming with the bushes fitted (see link).

As you suggest, metal insert in rubber, so it should be possible to diy.

I'd suggest a bit of 6mm bore stainless steel tube and a bit of fuel line to reproduce a couple to suit your needs.

I had a 175 that someone tried to make bushings with rubber hose and sleeves...  gauges were floppy.

Pretty sure the original inserts have an outer steel sleeve bonded to rubber bonded to an inner steel sleeve.  Like tiny engine mount.  They are pressed in to the bracket.

(1978 IT175 engine mount can be found here: www.partzilla.com/product/yamaha/328-15316-00-00  This is not the part you need!  Just showing them for a reference to the bonded rubber design. Second pic on partzilla part link has the best view)

Someone had removed the bushings to powder coat the bracket...  this was an earlier model and the bushings were available.  But I found it literally impossible to get them pressed in even after tediously honing the holes to remove all traces of powdercoat (and then some).

Ended up just buying a used bracket on ebay with bushings installed.  It doesn't surprise me that bushings are not shown for later model because of the difficulty of installing them.

Actually this is really helpful because you just helped me piece together what happened to my original inserts. I checked my pictures and it looks like they were in there before I brought it to the powder coater. They are metal collar inserts with a washer like base and a rubber outer bushing. I'll check with them to see if they still have them as a start. Of course they probably don't.

Thanks again. Such helpful info.

The rubber probably melted in the oven. I had that happen to a pair of nylon swing arm bushes!

You're very lucky that there happens to be a NOS bracket on ebay right now for a reasonable price.  Stuff like that doesn't come up very often anymore or at a decent price.  Link below:
