74 DT 360 exhaust help was created by Chitter

looking for a better performing exhaust pipe for my 74 dt 360, using the bike for occasional vintage hare scrambles. just has no top end performance. looking for the MX version pipe or maybe the sleeper pipe mod. Anyone out there have a mx pipe or suggestions on any after market exhaust that fits or can easily be modified to fit. tried e-mailing the sleeper pipe guys but didn't get a response. maybe got wrong e-mail.

Sleeper pipes have stopped production.

Have you tried burning out any crud from the existing exhaust. Also, the airbox lid has been known to inhibit performance - maybe give it a short run with this removed.

The MX360 pipe does fit with some modification.  I had one on my 74 for a while.  With stock porting it pulls to about 7000.  You will notice a difference, although the pipe isn't the only thing choking this motor up.  The airbox is the next greatest restriction, then the carb, then the reed block, then the porting.  The stock squish clearance is garbage as well.  If you just do the pipe and a bigger carb you can coax 90 MPH out of that thing.  Getting more top end power out of it is no problem.

I have been thinking about selling the MX360 exhaust I have here, it's a bolt on deal with all of the necessary modifications done.  Follows the stock routing inside the rear shock and hooks into a YZ250 silencer in the back.  Would be a bastard to ship though, so it's still just sitting here.
