The gift that keeps on giving... was created by Turbotim

Morning fellow bikes friends...

day off from work...
so as a few may have read my post and helped me
Through a number of clutch and other silly questions..
carb sorted, clutch working lovely, all good but no spark..
Im going to buy a multi meter and go through endless
Videos and start at the magno and work my way to the plug fault testing.... I have recently changed the plug, and the coil pack and lead.... and nothing plug on cylinder head no spark..
recently had flywheel off and good clean up....I also made sure that as soon as piston hits tdc immediately after wards the points open....I assume this is correct.... so after my short little back ground of where I am...here's where im totally confused
my engine number is 559-008-488 so after help on here I found out the engine is from a dt 1976 175 c French blue usa model twin shock...my shock horror is the bike frame wiring basically everything but the engine is from a dt 1975 125cc,
so the black wire from magno i followed  and when it goes into coil pack then goes into a black and white wire which is wired to the cut out on the handle bar... is this normal?? Do I have to rewire everything??? Was going to add pictures but not aloud at the moment....cheers all and keep out the sun and drink water till your pee goes clear...kind advise from a training UK assistant doctor

Doesn't matter if its a 125 or 175 the ignition timing is 1.8mm Before "Not After" tdc. Points just start cracking open "then". Black & white is the kill switch as you say & shorts out the black to the coil to ground the spark & stop the motor. If its an electric start 125--& i'm thinking its 'not' if it started as a 175--but if it is you'll need to hold the advance weights open when setting the timing. I'm guessing though that yours has a flywheel magneto like the 175 would have had, so ignore that confusing advice. & thanks Doc, i'll drink more water & less wine lol. No sun here--its dark--well none in the day time either its miserable & cold in nz, & to top it off the Irish thrashed us at Rugby lol. Think i'll stick to wine after that.

Yes mine has magno flywheel... so dial gague is on 0
at tdc...as soon as you turn the flywheel left the points will start to open....I guess this isn't correct...

so is it 1.8mm btdc left or right turn...
so if piston is 0 at tdc....so shall I turn  the flywheel right and time to 1.8mm btdc... or when its at 0 tdc turn the flywheel left 1.8mm.... and time btdc.... my apologies... I think I need
some wine

You turn flywheel to the left (counter clockwise), to get it to TDC (that's the direction the motor runs), then to get it BTD you turn it to the right (clockwise), to your 1.8mm then set your points...
