1976 DT400 Runs great....
Just did Distinguished Gentleman's ride and rode last weekend
Maybe 60 miles and was a champ.
But right after, all my driving lights went out, tail / flashers / stop
Battery shows good charge, fuse intact and shows power flowing
I have checked inside headlight bucket connections and under tank plugs and no power making it that far
I've been over the wiring diagram and looks like the one side of the rectifier and the red wire in the 4 pin before the key switch should be hot.
I'm trying to see where my power stops and maybe have a broken wire inside the harness? but before I do any surgery on the main harness, am I missing something here? Where downstream from the battery should the power go to where I can test pre-key switch?
Cheers

I'm not familiar with the 1976 ignition switches, but the same thing happened to my 1971 CT1, and it turned out that a red wire had come loose from the bottom of the ignition switch. I resoldered it and everything's fine now.

Thanks for the reply
I thought I had tested the blade fuse at the battery, but turns out just visually looked at it…. And missed it
A burn spot where I’ve never seen in the fuse… viola
What a dork….
At least I got to check every other connection in the entire machine!
Now re-assemble time
(Ya know sometimes you just have to write it out)

So has it blown all your bulbs, headlight etc. Your model should have a regulator to save bulbs blowing if the battery is disconnected by say a blown fuse etc. But what caused the fuse to blow i wonder--& why didn't the headlight still work [with the motor running that is].

My tail light bulb was also blown
Possible chaffing at the fuse connection under the seat may have grounded that wire? so snipped and re-soldered and shielded. New tail bulb in and it's good.
Headlight never stopped working
Voltage regulator worked like it was supposed to I guess
Thanks again for the reply
