Was working on my 2001 XR650L and got to looking at the dipstick on the DT400 too. The XR stick was almost identical size and screws all the way in. I was interested to try and see if my aftermarket temp gauge dipstick would fit but it was too long. Maybe useless info but they still make the xr650l in case dt400 sources dried up
