VAPE ignition system 74-76 DT125 was created by Anthony44
Was wondering the difference between these two kits. They are both 130mm kits but one comes with an extra piece. Looks like a reg/rec? Going to finally be getting a kit.

Surprised nobody know this on here. I guess this mod on this specific bike is really that rare. Probably only a handful of people in the world using this set up on this engine I'm guessing. That's pretty amazing. I will get the 320$ kit just in case

I plan on getting the DT125 kit also, just make sure its for the E-Start and know that you will no longer have an e-start.

Problem I had is you asked what the difference was between these two kits. All I saw is a picture of one kit?
It's not a rare conversion or anything like that. The kit you show says "factory magneto" and is not the right kit if you have the 12v generator/starter.

All original USA model 74-76 DT125's had the 12v generator/starter... but that is NOT the case in other countries.
Since it's not clear what model you have, I thought I'd post a link to the correct kit for the 12v generator/starter models.
www.powerdynamo.biz/eng/systems/7729/7729main.htm
And yes you lose the electric start.

Not sure why the other pic isnt visable but now that mark mentions they both say they are for a 6v system but I'm wondering since all the electronics are going to be replaced anyway why wouldn't this work with my new external threaded crank?
The oem electric starter on my US model was ripped off and missing pieces so I'm starting from scratch and installed an external threaded crank that you guys may have seen on my last thread. Please let me know your thoughts. Thanks!

You left a lot of information out... since you swapped to the externally threaded crank you NEED the version that fits the original 6v CT (175) magneto model.
Get a kit with the regulator if you want to run lights. Also they used to offer different flywheel weights when they were Powerdynamo. VAPE has changed listings a bit so not sure they still do that.

My bad I assumed you remembered me from the last thread. It's the 1974 model and I added the shorter crank collar you recommended to get the primary to line up with my clutch but I will make sure I get the right kit. Thanks for the info sir

Sorry, so many people posting on here I did not connect you with the crank swap...
Thanks for clarifying your details in this thread because you probably saved someone from buying the wrong kit for an e-start DT125 with the original crank and helped someone get the right kit if they swapped the crank like you did!
