As an update...the 455 MX piston and rings that I bought exactly matched the old piston/rings that were in the bike. I'll assume it was a replacement at sometime well in the past on this old beater. Thanks again for the advice!

An older post but can def confirm the 455 MX piston and rings work 100% in a DT175B.
Nothing makes me smile like the smell of Blendzall green label ;)

Later and very easily available DT175MX pistons, also work fine in the earlier twinshock bikes.

That post is from someone that is no longer a member....  the software here inexplicably puts the username of the logged in user (you in your case) as the author and "visitor".

When I look at that post it says MarkT (me) wrote it and shows "visitor".  Just ignore.
