Found my Vid. Goes on for a bit so up to you to watch or drag along. Wasn't fit then & even less now haha. Probably the opposite to yours as mine is very lean & once it catches it's basically just running on choke with year or more old fuel & blocked pilot jet with stale residue, but it 'does' come right to go & give it a clean out down the road.

Looks like i've been kicking for half an hour at the beginning haha. Should've got it home first & sorted it, carb & fuel etc.

You mentioned a new emgo coil? i dont claim to be a coil expert but i know that these newer cheapy coils just dont work on these old bikes, i dont know why. I have the same bike that had a $10 cheap coil on it and i ended up having to buy a used coil that was taken off a parts bike to get her running like a champ! I would suggest if you have another older bike around the same era try swapping the coil real quick or perhaps buy an old used one like i did.

Ummm...  yeah...  I think the point of my carb clean story was completely missed.

I was just trying to say that taking suggestions based on other people's experience seriously is not a bad thing. Often it's something simple or something that may have been checked...  even new parts sometimes.

Hope you figure it out soon!

P.S.  not sure if this has been answered but no, you do not need to split the cases to inspect or replace the seals.

Thanks for the new posts guys, I'll be able to get a fresh plug for it Monday or Tuesday and make sure I don't flood it while trying to start it. I'll update you then!

MarkT: yea i think I did miss it, haha. sorry if I've said anything to show otherwise, but taking others' suggestions is why I'm here!

EnduroNut: The one that failed you...was it not producing spark at all? Did it measure poorly with a multimeter?

msavitt: yes, the plug is wet with fuel.

RT325: thanks for the tips on starting (and the video!) so as not to flood it. once I put a new plug in it i'll start kicking away!

At least you've made some progress...  from what you said it wasn't getting fuel at first and now it sounds like it is.

Make sure to gap new plug and hope it's running soon!

Could the petcock be leaking? There is a chance if it's leaking or was left on at some point the bottom of the crank case is flooded with fuel, I've seen this happen and it's impossible to start them until it's cleared out. Easiest way to clear it is take the plug out and coast it down a hill in gear, exhaust off helps too.

At least that is free to do before replacing parts.

JBEEBE: was a while ago but as i recall the one produced a little spark, not nearly hot and big enough. The 2nd didnt have anything. Ive tried them on a few other machines like my 3 wheeler and nothing. Best thing in my opinion is get one that was originally made by the factory. Im sure there are good new coils out there but i just stick with factory.

MSAVITT: I thought I was sure....so I just went out and pulled the magneto to double check. the key is in place and in tact. thanks for the suggestion

DARINM: Good thought. I just drained the oil to check and it came out nice and...oily, ha. No fuel present. I also cycled the engine while looking into the cylinder with an inspection camera and it looks dry.

ENDURONUT: that would be wild if the emgo coil is faulty. thanks for the suggestion, if all else fails I'll look to that. Right now it tests fine on the multimeter and looks like it throws good spark though, so hopefully it's okay.
