DT400 twin shock - crankcase bolts was created by Jammyyammy

Hi all - I can’t see a specific torque for the 14 bolts holding the two crankcase halves together in the service manual, so I assume it’s just the generic torque setting using the attached table?
Is that correct? Thanks

I have never attempted to torque case screws...  just do my best to tighten them down evenly in stages a little at a time, until they are "tight" by hand with a JIS #3 driver.

I do have an inch-lb screwdriver-type torque wrench...  might have to try that sometime. Not sure what the spec would be...  let me see if some of the later manuals have something.

The spec I found in a couple of 1980's manuals was 8 Nm or 5.8 Ft-lb specifically for two stroke 6mm diameter case screws.

Other manuals (YZ/IT) from the 1980's listed 12 Nm or 8 ft-lb

The generic manual spec you have says 10 Nm or 7 ft-lb which is in between so I'd probably use that.
