Upon final assembly of my 1975 dt250..while installing a brand new shifter arm.,I noticed a considerable amount of in and out, left to right play in the selector shaft..about 1/4 inch...that seems like alot..the eclip is on the left side with a new seal...is it common for the eclip on the right side to fall of or some type of wear to happen causing this.,the bike only has 3200 miles on it..any input is much appreciated..

Is that built up without the outer case cover on ? Check the outer case if not there might be a stopper built into it. It will be a protruding ally sprag with a flat top.
