Shock length for 74 DT250 was created by LWC82PE
What is the standard length for the shocks for a 74 DT250. From what i can find in some vague info it might be 12.25 inches or 311mm but that's for slightly earlier and i have not got solid clear application info for a 74. Is this correct?
Also what length do people run on these bikes for VMX racing? Can they handle 340mm or is that too long?
Thanks

I think you can get away with Running 13" Shocks on the 1974-76 DT250,360 and 400. I am running 13" shocks on the RT1B and there was no ill handling effects and I am pretty sure they will work on the later model 250-400 from that example.

I found another old Koni catalogue and it says 321mm (12.63 inches) so i am confused even more now.

Thanks. I already have that article, Probably just going to go with 330mm (13") long and fingers crossed its not too long. its the shortest this shock manufacturer can go.

I used 13's on my DT250A.They're ok but wish I could lift the front just about a 1/2 inch to get the geometry back to stock profile setting. My other 250A is stock and I prefer the way it sets as opposed to mine having the rear jacked up a bit from the longer shock.Just my 2 cents.pic of my bike with longer shock.

Good point. The one i am working on i believe has 1975 forks as the damper rods are steel and theres no lugs on the outer fork tubes. Some taller fork caps with 34mm OD would enable sliding the forks out 8-12mm or a spacer under the damper rod or longer damper rod but both those reduce overlap. I have not measured all that exactly yet.
