Engine shuts off after 5-10 minutes and won't start back and backfires 75 dt125b

If the bike has points and starts back running ok for a short while , then you probably have a bad condenser. That is after cooling off.

I found the problem , it was the coil. The 1975 Yamaha Dt125B sat for years I had to clean the fuel tank and carburetor. replace the points, condenser, pitcock, and brushes for the gen. Its running like a top.
