I am looking to replace the fork tubes, they are not bent but the chrome has rubbed off a section of one of the tubes. The ones I have found on line look different from mine. One is no groove for the C clip also they do not have the cap at the bottom of the tube I think that is removeable. Thanks for any ideas.

Have you considered having them (hard) re-chromed?

I just did a search for hard chrome places, they all look like they do industrial type stuff. Although it is an option, have anybody you can suggest? Thanks

I am in the UK, so places that I know of probably won't be of much use to you!

I have found a couple of places that re hard chrome mcy. forks big $$$, more than I paid for the bike. This is my swap meet bike so it does not get a lot of use, will see what I can find at mid-ohio this year. Thanks for the help.

Just a thought, but you could fit these DT175 forks and the chrome looks okay, (check with the experts here but I'm sure they'll work for you). Any decent small engineering shop should be able to straighten out and true up.

May still need the brake backing plate. Have you tried looking for a parts bike/donor bike that has everything on it you need?

Yes the backing plate would have to change, I want to keep the original chrome lowers so I will be searching swap meets in the north east this year. Put the bike together for now, leaks a little fork oil but I can live with it for now. Going to:
Mid-Ohio
Rice O Rama
White Rose ( new location )
York fairgrounds
If anybody knows of any other Jap bike shows within 5hrs. of NYC let me know.
Thanks
