Maybe someone in this community knows of a source for the pressed in solid bearings in the cluch basket of the 74 360. I have a basket that I would like to salvage because the "fingers" are showing low wear and the lash number works with the mating primary drive gear. But the bearing to spacer clearnance is above spec.
I'm prepared to convert the bearing over to a needle bearing but before I bring the parts to the machine shop for surgery, I felt compelled to ask here. New, solid bearings would be a much simpler remedy.

Any good machine shop should be able to press in new bronze bushings and ream/hone to size.

I had considered bronze but wasn't certain it was an acceptable material as a replacement. The original ones look to be steel with a dense bearing material as a wear surface.
It is a bit surprising that these are (were) not a replacement part from Yamaha.

They are thin. They are probably steel backed bronze. Likely a standard off the shelf item if you have the OD and ID and check bushing supply catalogs.
My understanding of the steel backing is it's there because they are thin and the steel allows them to be pressed in.
If not available... like a similar bushing I needed for an ancient transmission... the machine shop uses a thick bushing that can be pressed in and then bores/reams/hones the ID to size. This method would be impractical and expensive for mass production but seemed to work good for a repair.
As far as spares, I've never seen (or noticed) a clutch with those bushings worn out. I would imagine they would need to be worn out pretty darn bad to cause any sort of issue?
Also might be easier to have an oversize sleeve made.

I agree with Mark on the bronze. I was talking with my local machinist asking if he could make me up some odd size swingarm bushes and he indicated he could get oil-impregnated bronze. Maybe that could be done here? But almost certainly the originals were just pressed in.
Would that needle bearing you have in the photo be the correct size/fit for the shaft?
