1976 dt175 Curious on the best place to search for a bottom end or complete engine. Obviously there's eBay but didn't know if somebody knew a guy on here. Bought the bike thinking it needed top end but rod bearing went out, destroying piston, jug, crank and case. Any help would be appreciated.

Ouch!!

I know what that's like.

If you've checked the VIN and truly have a 1976, then you need to know the trans and clutch is different in 1976 compared to 1974 or 1975.  You can use a complete 1974 or 1975 engine... it will bolt right in...  but some internal parts are different.  Cylinder is a little different too as 1976 was the first 175 without the oil injection into the cylinder itself.

Cheapest thing would probably be new (used) cases and rebuild the crank?  Not sure.

Thanks for the reply MarkT. That's the info I need to proceed on a parts search. I might have to have to try the Facebook side of this website.
