1974 DT360 battery connections was created by Roland Wheeler
Hi Yamaha Vintage Enduros!
I am working on my bike, which has several electrical issues. My first question: the bike came with no battery. I purchased the correct Yuasa battery. According to the Yamaha manual the hot lead connects to the fuse holder, which then connects to the wire that bridges the red wire on the diode (rectifier) and the red wire from the main switch. No problem finding that. Question: There are 2 other red connections in the battery area that I cannot locate on the wiring diagram. Do these just clip together (one has a female connection, the other a male so they would seemingly go together)? And if so, what are these wires for?
I have a feeling this is just the beginning of my electrical journey....
And I am sorry if this has been answered before so please be patient with me!!!

I've got my fuse holder, both male connectors, between two red female connectors in the loom. The loom also has a red with a male connector and I have this plugged into the female on the battery.

Here's a pic of mine - I believe unaltered stock, but then again she came with many surprises. The fuse holder is inside the rubber boot on the R

I think that's probably correct.
I read your first post as your battery positive going straight to the fuse holder, but it looks like that's not the case.

Without seeing it, two red females in loom go to fuse holder, male in loom to battery.

Thank you! This is what I have read in another post, BUT does not follow what the Yamaha manual states. It would really suck if the manual is incorrect, brinmging into question maybe other errors. If your system works and all lights work and the battery charges than this must be correct. But the wiring diagram shows the wire that connects the rectifier to the main switch (one continuous red wire) going to the fuse holder then to the battery. And the wiring you just talked about does not go to those places. Scary!!!!

Thank you, you are the second source that confirms this, but again, goes against what the factory wiring states.

Thank you! That is what I will do, but makes no sense based on the wiring diagram and what I have ohmed out. But if all your lights work etc etc this must be correct

There is a major error in the DT360 wiring diagram. When I get a chance later I will try to post the details.
