DT400B - Rear Indicator Brackets was created by Jammyyammy
Hi all - I need your help again please.
The brackets for my rear indicators are bent.
The trouble is that the tabs on the frame that they attach to are also bent - do I've got no reference points.
I suspect my brackets should be straight in both planes.???
If that's the case, then I can straighten them and bend the tabs on the frame to suit.
Please could you take a look at the pictures and confirm if the pencils in each picture should be parallel to each other.
Any advice (apart from a big vice and a big hammer) to straightening them? They are thick metal, not a bit of tin. Shoud I heat them?
Thanks...
?
Thanks......

Use a heat gun. Open flame will turn chrome blue. Repops available from The Vintage Spoke. About $ 23 each I think. Chrome for 75, black for 76.

Hi, I'm restoring a DT250A and need some rear indicator brackets - I can't see any on the Vintage Spoke site that will fit? I gather originals are almost impossible to come by, so do you know of any options that will fit? Thanks

I looked back at your posted photos. You have the brackets with the square hole. I have not seen anyone reproducing that style bracket. Suggest you straighten yours. File and sand out all of the scratches and have them re-plated.

Hi all, Jammyyammy here. Just a quick update. I straightened my brackets out. Heat wasn't required - just a vice, adjustable spanner and a short length of scaffolding tube. Although they are very heavy / chunky for a small bracket, they bent out surprisingly easy. Managed to get them virtually perfect. All fitted and looks good. Will get them re-chromed next Winter.

Hi, I have a pair I would be willing to part with, they are the chrome versions, but the chrome is in poor condition with some rust pitting. If interested send me a PM and I can snap some pictures for you. I usually just paint them silver or black after a good cleaning, they look fine on a rider quality bike.
