DT360 transmission assembly was created by msavitt
Can anyone please provide a picture or schematic (other than the Partzilla hemorphedite) that clearly lays out how the shims, etc. on the clutch side of the output shaft (e.g. opposite splined end that receives the chain sprocket) are properly assembled? I am good all the way up to 1st gear, my confusion is how things go together from that point onward, meaning the collar that rides in the roller bearing and shims - if any - that sit between 1st gear on the output shaft and the roller bearing, and then on the outside the shim placement for the idler gear.
THANK YOU!
Martin

Here's a picture from mdscott's restoration thread
yamaha-enduros.com/index.php/forums/attachment/15887
Outside there should be a thin shim, idler gear, thin shim, snap ring.

thank you for responding, I really appreciate it!
you have confirmed my understanding that once the portion circled in red pokes through to take the idle gear that washer - gear - washer - clip.
BUT inside the case, does there not need to be a thrust washer between the snap ring (red arrow) and the needle/roller bearing? I ask because when I test fit the snap ring that contains 1st gear rubs inside of case.
thanks for helping me, this bike is going to ROCK!

What ball bearing do you have installed in the case on the output shaft (sprocket) side?

Here’s the sprocket side bearing
Here’s the bearing opposite sprocket that 1st gear abuts
Here’s the end with busing that goes into the roller bearing that has 1st gear rubbing, hence do I need a shim

I'm not as well-versed on the bigger bores but from what I've seen there might be an error in the bearing listing?
Pretty sure it needs to be a 6305XN where the "X" designates a large radius on the outside of the back side of the bearing. Without that large radius, the bearing can't be pressed all the way in on some bikes.
Tolerances are tight in the transmission. I can't read the numbers but it doesn't look like a 6305XN. I bet if you remove the retainer plate you'll be able to get a very thin feeler gauge in between the snap ring and the case? Something to check. Or check your old bearing for the number on it if you have it. If the snap ring is tight to the case, then you're fine.
93306-30517 is the Yamaha number for the 6305XN.
As far as your question about thrust washer on the other side, the answer is no. When the sprocket nut is tightened the shaft is held tight to the left and can't float side to side in the case so no thrust washer should be used.

Here's a picture of the bearing with arrow pointing to the larger radius.

Thank you
But I didn’t replace either trans bearing - only engine mains - because trans tight abs clean and worked perfectly before I disassembled
So I am trying to ascertain whether I toe stubbed upon disassembly and lost a shim or am missing something else cause when I install outpost shaft 1st gear rubs case.

Someone could have replaced bearing previously. I would check to see if snap ring is tight to case. Or not. It's your bike.
Other thing is install tighten sprocket nut to see if that fixes it.
