74 DT 360 rod measurements? was created by Jack

Can anyone give me the connecting rod measurements on a 74 DT 360? I'm trying to find a crank kit for it and I think I've found one on ebay but ebay seller part numbers aren't to be trusted, so need the measurements of original rod, particularly the crankpin measurements. Thanks

I'm not sure if it's just you or a couple of people asking the rod questions... this has come up here many times including comments on Bike Buzzard as a seller... several have used his parts and have explained the differences and concerns. (guessing that's who you're talking about)

I don't have any personal knowledge on the topic but if you use the "search forum" in the menus (not just "search") you'll find a lot of answers.

partzilla says a DT1 rod is a 431. Babbits says a DT360A rod is a 431. Somewhere in the link below from 2014 i saw a 214 rod as 130mm if that helps--i'm confused. Even worse, old & confused. tis interesting what works though. You might think a 250 rod would be too short, but the extra stroke pokes it up further, so all good.--well depending on other things like gudgeon height & stuff.

Thanks, I did find several mentions of bike buzzard, mostly positive. But still can't find the info I need on my rod measurements. I know I need the 130mm length, Enduronut enlightened me about the part number errors on Partzilla for the rod so I've got that much figured out and I can measure the rod width and wrist pin myself so all I really need is the crankpin size. But I need to get the parts ordered so guess I'll have to risk it and order the kit I linked to.

Yes, confusing is the word! Part numbers vary from vendor to vendor, it's nuts, so that's why I'm trying to get the actual measurements of the crank pin so I'll know I'm getting the right kit.

.

The DT360 crank has a 25mm diameter pin

. . . you just have to make sure the kit has the correct size bearing to work with both the 214 size rod hole and the 25mm pin
I'd imagine Bike Buzzard has already got that sorted out if he's selling the kit as fitting your model.

I know I told you I didn't have the rod kit in a private message, but I found a couple of the correct kits in one of my sheds.
However, I believe they are a slightly higher quality kit then what B. Buzz is selling .... particularly the crank pin .... but perhaps the entire kit, especially if you consider where the two different kits were made.

No problem . . . His kit should work just fine for ya ... even if the quality and finish don't quite match my kits.

I'll definitely be needing a piston and rings from you Dave. I'll get with you as soon as Bill Bune's tells me what size I need. But it'll be awhile since expected delivery date for the kit I ordered isn't till 29th, then however long it take to ship it up there and then however long it takes for them to get the bore done.
