1975-76 DT400 fork oil weight? was created by Bigdog302

getting ready to rebuild the forks on the forks on the Super DT400 and I am wondering what weight fork oil you are running in your forks on mid 7 0's DT400s?

also what aftermarket fork springs do you suggest? I am planning to rebuild them with a Trick-IT fork kit I have.
2 1968 DT1s,1970 RT1M,1970 DT1C,1971 RT1B,1971 Honda Z50K2,1974 DT100A 1974DT250A,1974 Honda MT250,2 1975 DT400Bs,1975 Honda CR250M1,1978 DT175E,1979 Honda CR250R.

I am running 10 weight and springs from race tech. I believe that are the same springs as the ttr125. At least the 74 DT250 is listed on the race tech site which should be the same springs as your 400. I did have to turn down the upper spring retainer to make the springs fit.

In other news, I got both front and rear new tires on the RT1B.


I started modding a stock pipe for my 1978 DT175E

I looked back at my notes and see I changed to 200cc 15w last change with the new springs. I don’t have much run time on this setup. I race vintage MX with this bike and weigh about 180 for reference.

I will need to run the heaviest springs due to my weight and The Trick -it fork kit says to run 30 weight for fork oil. I guess I will start there and work from there. Racetech has springs for my bike.
