74 DT125A Silencer was created by YamFam

Hi all, I recently picked up a DT125A. This is my first Yamaha enduro and I’m excited to start digging in. I’ve already gotten a lot of great info from this forum and appreciate all the expertise here.

The bike is running and mostly complete but is missing the exhaust silencer. I’ve been searching eBay but there are none available. I’ll continue to search for an original but in the meantime can anyone recommend an aftermarket option that fits?
I also found one from a 76 DT125 but according to the parts schematic the 74 and 75 share the same part but it changed in 76. It looks pretty much the same except for which side the hanger sits on the mount. Would the 76 silencer fit as long as I mod the mounting bracket?
Any info would be much appreciated!

You could check with Bikeboneyard.com. They show one on there website but I am not sure how up to date it is. I had to find one for my 1975 125 as well. Not sure why they ever removed them on that model, exhaust is vented behind the shock next to the rear wheel without it.
Cheers

Thanks for this. I emailed Brenda and she sent me pictures of the silencer. Based on the mounting bracket it’s actually off of a DT175. Does anyone know if the DT175 silencer is compatible with the DT125 pipe?

Edit: according to the partzilla cross-reference the 74-75 DT175 silencers are compatible with DT100s but not DT125s. The hunt continues.

Is it a good price? I'd buy it and stash it away somewhere, then, and now you just need to find a 100 or a 175! :Ugh

Some of us think that way, though...

I know, I bought a 72 R5 last year and the guy threw in an RD350 engine so I figured I might as well start buying the rest of the bike piece by piece. Motorcycles multiply like rabbits :haha:
