couple of questions was created by wayno

I have a U.S spec dt400c that I am rebuilding, found out today that the brake cable I bought a couple of months ago don't fit, it has the 8mm thread not the 6mm so am wondering if it's for the mx version? also the clutch cable doesn't seem long enough, tried routing it through the middle of the top yoke and along side but seems too short. next is a wiring question, when I stripped it down months ago I marked up the wires with masking tape A-A etc, putting it back I have a pink wire from the left handlebar cluster with nowhere obvious to go, any idea?

thanks Wayne.

Yes, pink grounds the horn when button is pressed... there is also a brown wire to horn that is battery DC power with key on.

Just be super careful fitting brake cables that are too short to go the normal route. As when suspension is compressed & rebounds you 'could' get it caught on something [top fork yoke clamp bolt] [handlebar clamp bolts] etc then it'll pull the front brake on with unintended results.

didn't get as far as fitting for length on the front brake as the thread was too big, it's the clutch cable too short or I got the route wrong.

Morning Wayne and I hope that you and yours are all ok.

Did you buy genuine Yamaha or repro?

Yes you just find out that MX parts won't fit. Even if look the same they are not .
