Crankshaft Welding was created by Silo7

Upon disassembly for rebuild, I came across an odd situation and am seeking opinions. 76 DT 400 purchased, not ‘the one’ but regardless I will rebuild. During tear down, I pulled the flywheel, stator plate, etc. when placing the flywheel on tray, a sharp stabbed my hand. Upon closer inspection, the sharp was a piece of MIG wire. It appears that for some reason PO put a couple spots of weld on the taper of flywheel. The only reason I can think of is that the flywheel was loose and damaged the taper both wheel and shaft. Close inspection doesn’t show any excessive damage to shaft or flywheel. Although the 2-3 small spots of weld damaged the system, it appears that I can clean up and run with it.

Pictures attached are these I can give, any opinions or advice is greatly appreciated.

PO's do strange things. I think once you clean it up & LAP it to fit you'll be good to go.
