It should work then... the pipe and wheels on my MG1T were nearly solid brown with rust. Oxalic acid did a pretty good job cleaning them up.... I let the acid and time do the work... didn't rub or scrub at all.

Replied by Mothersbaugh on topic DT 175B Tail light and Throttle cable questions.

"I apologize for thread bombing you but, would that bar keepers friend work on pitted fork sliders for a runner bike, MarkT?"

The problem with pitting on the forks, at least the upper/inner forks, is that you can get the rust gone, but then even with new seals and boots, your fork oil will still seep out around/through the pits. Not terribly, but it's a problem.

Thanks for the reply! That’s a good point. Fortunately, the seal surfaces are clear of rust pits. It’s above the area and between the triple trees. I’m just trying to make an everyday rider out of the not good enough parts. It won’t get washed unless it gets torn down for repair. The only thing special might be a 40% bigger heart.

Yah. We took off on a tangent there. Mine’s going to be street legal with all the lights necessary. Thanks for mentioning that though. I remember you posting that and thought is was a good solution to a problem. Nice looking Dt100 too. I think the 75 tanks are probably my favorite.
