74 DT250 Front Brake Cable was created by Yamalol

Simple question (I hope). My front brake lever is pretty loose from slack in the brake cable. The adjuster is all the way out. My manual doesn't say anything about when, or if, to replace a cable. I have a tough time making adjustments on the wheel itself, seems like the lever the cable fits in to only wants to go on to that toothed pin one way. Should I mess around with adjustment at the wheel, or track down a new cable? I thought about fitting a few washers inside the adjuster, but that seems like a bandaid fix...

First thing i'd do is pull the wheel and make sure the brakes are not worn out, if that's ok try relocating the brakes arm further back on the backing plate. Last replace the cable, unless it frayed then replace it.

+1 to this.

Slacken off/remove the bolt, you might have to prise open the "jaws" of the lever/arm, move back a notch or two and tighten. Repeat until you're happy with the adjustment.
