Mitsubishi F8T 00172 vs. F8T 00171 CDI ignitor confusion (mine)

My 74 DT360A has a CDI box with label marked F8T 00171 on front. I checked the part number for this bike and it is 445-85540-22-00. Curiously however most for sale units I see have labels that are F8T 00172.

Is there any difference between these two, are they interchangeable?

Thanks!

Those early DT360 CDI units and the pickup coil (pulse) are prone to have issues, in other words they quit. Most have changed to a DT250 point system or aftermarket ignition i.e. VAPE (PowerDynamo), I did the change over on mt 74 DT360.
If you want I'll make you a deal on my old ignition, I never started the bike with the original ignition, but it was owned by one the members on this forum.
I believe I have everything, flywheel, coil assy and cdi unit.
Thanks Mark

Thanks for the offer. So far the spark coil, pulser, and charge coil have all checked out as good within spec. The CDI ignitor box is a question mark though, I can't seem to get any consistent ohm readings out of it. However I think I have a line on an NOS one if you can believe that, one that has the the F8T 00172 label. That is why I posed this question. So if these two are interchangeable I'll probably go with that for the easiness of doing so and keeping the thing close to original. I'll let you know if it turns out otherwise. Thanks again.

I’m trying to figure out what to do with my 1974 DT360A. Is the Rex’s conversion completely worth it? They have been very responsive by email so far, but I doubt seriously that I will do anything but ride mine on trails, so if you still have that original ignition setup I might be interested since mine is rusted bigtime. Picture attached.

The problem is my old ignition, well, I can't guarantee it will work and for how long.
I sent you a PM.

Okay. I think I may bite the bullet and get the Rex’s setup. For some reason I don’t see the PM but thanks very much.
