I picked up a clean 75 DT250 today was created by Grussell
As I am into reassembling my 78 DT400 project, I come across this little jewel today. So I brought it home. Overall it looks really good, but the main reason I was able to get it is the carb doesn't fit the intake. The carb is smaller than the intake. I haven't had a chance to look into it yet, but thought I would post some pictures.

Cracking find.
I wonder why it has the wrong carb - definitely wrong carb and not wrong intake?! Numbers stamped on carb should answer that question.

Nice!
It might also be the manifold... lots of confusion on that part as it's one on the 250/400 "shared" parts lists without clear identification.
OEM had either "498" or "500" part number prefix cast into the rubber of the manifold. The one with the 498 prefix is for the 250.
If you look the manifold up in the electronic parts list for the 250... it's #15... and clearly lists the one for the DT400 with the 500 prefix (identical bolt pattern but takes a bigger carb than the 498 version).. The one you need, the one with the 498 prefix, is way at the top of the list as a "#0" part.

I removed the carb and manifold this morning. the carb measures 28mm and is a Mikuni. The manifold is definitely the wrong one as it is stamped with 364 01, which is for a 73-74 MX250-YZ250. Now to find the correct one. Not many choices out there this morning. Anyone have an opinion on the aftermarket one made by Hot Foot Moto LLC. Its listed on ebay for $109.95.

The manifolds I bought from Hot Foot Moto in the past were very good quality.
