DT 400 decompression valve was created by tlh0824
Hello
I am trying to rebuild my decompression valve, I cleaned everything up and reassembled. The issue is when the valve is engaged part of the spring slides out past the clip, *see picture, the spring is new, but the old spring did the same thing, which prompted the rebuild.
Thanks for your help
Tom

You don't say which model yours is, but I have attached a couple of photos of the valve on my 1974 DT360A in case they prove useful.
It took me a while to figure it out, but a previous owner of mine had removed the nut off the end of the valve itself, but had then replaced the split pin! Is the end of your valve threaded (M5 I think) and missing a nut?
Ignore the end of the cable on mine - at some stage the nipple had sheared off and been replaced with a universal jobby. It seems to work fine.

Quick question is there a e clip that goes between the backing plate and the spring. I don't see in any of the parts diagrams. I am starting to think my problem is that this has been monkeyed with by a previous owner.

I don't think so.
Does your valve have the M5 thread all the way down, with the hole for the split pin?
Bl**dy previous owners eh?!
