Dt125g was created by jtb605a

Hi , hope everyone is well. I have adt125g that's showing 120 psi but is hard to start cold unless you spray it , then it will start right up and continue to start all day.  It tends to bog a little taking off but once it's moving it does decent. I have to run the air screw all the way in to get it this good  I know these are funny little carbs but shouldn't be that difficult. Reeds show a small gap top and bottom. Any help appreciated.

In the float bowl there will probably be a tiny jet at the bottom of a deep hole in the casting. Check that this is clear - I use carb cleaner to check if clear and 0.4mm copper wire to clear if blocked.

Yep fixed choke jet in the bowl.
But also if you need to run the idle mixture right in then i'd be looking at the pilot jet again or increase its size.
Then again it could be the crank seal behind the mag. First though i'd have a good look through the carb with Center column needle jet out too.
Maybe move the clip down a notch on the needle--lift needle in other words to richen it slightly to overcome bogging
How's the air cleaner.

Haven't noticed that yet. I'll look again. Do you know where I can find a picture of it ? I went from 25 to 40 on the pilot and was able to come out on the air screw a good bit and it's running pretty well. I'll try starting it again tomorrow. I guess 1 quick spray isn't the end of the world , it just bugs me. Thanks

Assuming that the link I've attached below works ok, see the second photo.

The tiny jet is in the bottom of the hole in the casting on the inside edge facing you as you look at the photo - ie not the brass overflow pipe.

Going from #25 to # 40 pilot jet is a massive leap . They increase in 2.5 increments .
Seldom do they need to jump more than two sizes .
the fact that you've had to wind out the air screw considerably , tends to prove you've
gone too far .

If the choke jet is blocked then operating the choke only makes a bad situation worse as lets in more air but no fuel to go with it. Also for the choke to work as it should you need the throttle fully closed & don't touch it until the motor settles down & starts to richen up. Then flick it off & you're away. Well that's in a perfect world & you have to decide when enough is enough [choke] or when it needs more. Also when hot you shouldn't need any. But then again if you have a pilot jet problem then that rule might need bending a bit. Trial & error [& i'm still making plenty].

That was it. 50 plus years of 2 stroking and never had a choke circuit stop up. Thanks for the tip.
