Hi guys
1980 DT175MX
Has anyone got a photo showing the kickstart return spring in its correct position?
Mine fell out as I removed the crankcase cover

There is a US 1978 Service Manual in the Tech Library here that will cover most of the mechanical basics for your 1980.  With Yamaha manuals, you generally need to look through removal, inspection, and assembly to find all the info...  it's odd how they'll often show something you need to know for assembly in the removal or inspection sections.  Should be pictures too.It is simple though...  just make sure gear clip is still in notch in case and stopper on shaft is located in the relief area or kicker won't drop in all the way.  You're probably fine if shaft didn't come all the way out...  just wanted to mention.Then simply wind the spring clockwise and place the tang in the hole just above the screw hole to the rear of the starter.  You only wind it about 180 degrees or so...  just from where it is now around to the hole. See pic below
