Good morning all,
Planning to paint the gearbox cover, cylinder and head as part of my rebuild.
It looks like the gearbox case is gloss black and the cylinder & head are matte black.
Not fussy about getting the precise original colour with yamaha paint codes, but would like to get the colour approximately right!
Are my thoughts on colour about right, or is satin black more original looking?

Just my opinion but i like Satin Black for engine cases, but everyone to their own. Same for cylinder & head if you decided to paint them.

I think you’re right… rest of my bike is not restored, and a blingy gloss black engine would probably look like a peg in a square hole.

 Ha ha I just asked the same question on my DT250E.
Looks like frame were satin or gloss originally and the engine looks pretty much flat but it's old and it wasn't kept inside much.
  Hoping the experts will chime in.

Original paint is satin black.
