Swapped stator from my other ct3 and light works again I believe that the stator was on its way out

Interesting and thanks for posting.

Any evidence of what component/part of the stator was failing - eg lighting coil?

Very interesting & good result even if i can't get my head around why that would roast the rectifier if it was connected correctly.
