Hi
Will a carb off a ct1 175 fit and work on my ct2 without rejetting. 
Iknow the ct1 has no reeds and carb body is a different part number but i,m finding it hard to find a good 1972 carb
Also are the cheap chinese copies worth looking at or steer clear
will try to get some pics up of project later.

I was in the same position as you, and went for the Chinese copy option.  It didn't work well out of the box, and I had to set it up using parts from my damaged original carb and jets from ebay. Together with advice on jetting etc from the tech section on here.  So not plain sailing.

I have got to a point however where it performs satisfactorily.

Note: some but not all parts where interchangeable with original.

So I would say if at all possible try and get hold of a Mikuni original, (I am still keeping my eyes open for one). 

But I know from experience that, with work, you can get the Chinese copies to do the job, if you can't get hold of an original.

 

Cheep enough to give it a try. Have one on my 175 but the type that fits into a rubber manifold against the reed housing. I'm sure i had to jet the main but also sure i changed the thread either on the jet or up the spout as threads were incompatible. Think change up the spout of the needle jet in hindsight so is easy to swap jets until i got it jetted. Didn't have the bowl side mounted main jet on what i bought. Not sure if i had a plan for the pilot jet but is ok luckily. Think i leaned off the slide needle a clip or so. Might have a pic of my ratbike handy.

Sounds very much like my setup RT325, but mine is the bolt on type rather than the rubber manifold. As you say I had to lean of the needle jet, (fitted the mikuni needle and slide from original carb) also changed the pilot jet. The main issue as you say is the main jet cant be changed externally and is a differant set up and thread. Im still running with he Chinese main jet, works but maybe It could be better.

managed to pick one up for my 250 last week.

What do you have of the stock carb?  I think I may have one without the bowl...  I probably have a bowl but it's in the shed that I can't get open right now.
