AT2M Silencer was created by Tdbecker58

I'm the proud owner of a 1972 at2m 125.  Haven't started it yet, but the day is coming soon.  I have the original exhaust on it, but know there is no silencer/spark arrester attached.  I am looking for options to bring the noise level down when it is running/racing.   I've found a schematic for what looks like the original setup.  I had this model when I was a teenager and seem to remember replacing the whole thing with a Bassini pipe.

If I find an after market silencer, how would it be attached?   Would I slide it down over the end of the exhaust, or just attach it to the end  (seems really long).

I've been searching this sites forum and plan old Google, but haven't found any clear ideas.

Thanks in advance for help.

I believe they always looked a bit long.

On some MX models Yamaha offered an accessory Skyway spark arrestor/silencer...  you'd cut about an inch off the stinger to install.

I looked but couldn't find anything on the AT2M

Great information.  Thanks for the feedback. Is that a brochure for the YZ MX?   I remember seeing those around the neighborhood.

I get nervous modifying the orignal parts, but this is a good suggestion.

I will continue my search for the aftermarket silencer.
