piston search was created by RobertE

Need some help here. I am having a hard time locating a 2nd over piston and rings for my 73 dt250. Everything I see on ebay shows 74 to 78 not being compatible with the 73 model. According to part numbers, they are the same for all those years. Question is, will a 74 piston and rings work for my 73?

If you do in fact have a 1973 250 it is called a DT3 NOT a DT250. Try searching DT3 for your piston. Go to Tech Library above and click on to Vin search to verify what you do have

You could also try contacting Enduronut... he has a good supply of OEM pistons and rings for sale.

This is very interesting. The vin # confirms it to be a DT3. Upon ebay search for piston and rings, it shows several pistons for Dt3, but also indicate they can be used for 74 to 76 Dt250. It makes me wonder why pistons listed for dt250 don't show compatibility for the DT3. At least, I'll be able to get the correct piston. Much thanks for the info.

Any chance you could post a link to a piston on ebay that you're describing?

I did a quick look and pretty much all showed they fit the DT3 and the 74-76... I didn't see any that didn't.

Wondering like you're doing is a good thing... a lot of things aren't listed right on ebay and you don't want to end up with something that won't work.

Both CMSNL and Partzilla show the piston as fitting 250 bikes from 1972 - 1976 inclusive. Interestingly, they show the part number as 438...... - ie the code for the 1974 DT250A, so probably a supersession (or a mistake?! :EEEK). Hopefully Enduronut, DEET etc will read and confirm either way.

308 sounds like a 360 piston. that'd make it fly--except the fins would fall off.

Pretty sure Wiseco makes one. I had to bore my jug 4 over and that was the only piston I could find.
