rubber clutch rings 1973 DT250 was created by Zeph

Hey, curious how many on here either use or don't use the rubber rings in the clutch basket? Mine is a 73 DT250 to be specific.

I use the rubber rings on my 1975 DT100B. The clutch works great, with no slipping or dragging. It is easy to find neutral when the engine is running and you are stopped.

I had a 1974 DT100A, which did not have the rubber rings from the factory. The clutch dragged slightly even though I thought it was adjusted properly. The dragging made it hard to find neutral at a stop. It is possible that the dragging was related to some other problem with the clutch like warped plates. I traded the DT100A and never did fix the dragging.

Yamaha specifically added the rubber rings in the 75 DT100B. I thought others must have the dragging in '74 so Yamaha fixed that. I didn't see any complaints for the 74 DT100A in road tests back in the day.

The 75 friction disks are not as tall as 74 to make room for the rubbers. At least that is what I remember when disassembling the clutches and comparing. Partzilla shows them as being the same part number now.
